Paindane - Dec 18

This was our first visit to the northern parts of Mozambique - and it came as an absolute spurr-of-the-moment.  Dewald got off earlier than anticipated and my newly certified students - Wilrie, Shane and Rene - asked me to accompany them on their first sea dives.  Well, it didn't take much to convince us that this was the time to visit the north.

Within 1 day we had everything ready - from cross-border letters, insurance to accommodation. We initially wanted to leave a day later, but after all these were completed, we packed and left the same afternoon. We arrived there 11 o'clock on the 19th of December in scorching heat (42 degrees). After an interesting drive through the hot sand we ended up in our rooms at Island Rock - not to see us again.

The next couple of days was very interesting - from a very nice dive at Pleasure Bay diving with Vossie at Paindane to interesting sightseeing further north to Inhambane and Tofo.
